Chef Lex

A southern girl born in Tampa, FL that came from the merged roots of parents from Port Saint Joe and Dade City, FL. Grew up with that good ole soul food, delicious BBQ, and an abundance of seafood being on the peninsula.

My Story

I have always had a thing for food since my younger years, but it wasn’t until my second year in high school during an culinary elective class where I was introduced to a new way on how to use a potato (gnocchi). From there I switched schools and was blessed with a culinary instructor who happened to be a Johnson & Wales Alum. She educated and guided me in directions to get me into college by having me join FCCLA and getting me involved in competitions among other members in the organization.

Once I graduated high school, I attended Johnson & Wales University in Miami where I received my B.S in Culinary Arts & Food Service Management. Had the opportunity to work at Disney World getting experience in banquet, casual, buffet and catering services. After the completion of college, I continued to learn and clean up my skills joining the family at PINCH Kitchen as chef de partie then went on to my next adventure to join the military. Doing so brought me back to Florida (Panhandle) where I served three years active duty in the Air Force and I recently transitioned over to the reserves to focus back on my passion for food.

In 2020 I started A Taste Of Lex. Offering personal chef and catering services to all. I don’t specifically have a specialty because I believe that as a chef you should be able to do it all. The cuisine style I embody is New American Cuisine. It fuses a multitude of cultures cooking styles and techniques resulting in a burst of flavors and that mouthful of goodness every time you get a taste.
